How To Choose The Best Snowboarding Goggles

Step-by-step Instructions

Here is what you need to do...
Step 1

The first thing that you need to decide when choosing a pair of goggles is how much time you spend on the mountain which should determine the amount of money you decide to spend. Snowboard goggles range in price from as low as $20 dollars for a basic pair to up to about $200 for the most advanced pairs. If you don't snowboard that often, then it may be a smart choice to choose a pair of goggles on the cheaper end of the price spectrum.

Step 2

Goggle frames come in a range of shapes and sizes. Choosing the one that best fits your face is an important task and can ruin a fun day on the mountain. You want the goggles to fit snuggly on your face without any discomfort. A proper fit will seal your eyes into the goggles with a nice snug fit on your face. Make sure you are able to see properly out of the lenses in all directions without strain.

Step 3

The third thing you need to consider is the conditions that you will be snowboarding in the most. Different color lenses work best in different conditions. A brief overview of lens color and optimal conditions is listed below. Amber/Brown - best in normal to overcast conditions Gold and Persimmon -best in low to medium light conditions Pink - suited well for many conditions except very bright conditions Yellow - suited best for overcast conditions Black or Gray - very bright conditions Orange - all conditions Clear - work best in night conditions

Step 4

One of the biggest problems that snowboarders face on the mountain is foggy goggles. More expensive goggles will have more advanced technologies to combat this problem. Cheaper goggles do not have this luxury so buying a bottle of fog spray and wiping down your lenses is a good idea.
