Push-Up Using Suspension System


Differentiation: Mechanics

This variation of a Push-Up is unique. Here is how: you suspend your upper body off the floor using suspension straps. This position requires you to engage your core to maintain balance. Engaging your core eventually increases the overall strength of your core.


Starting Position

To get into starting position, do this...

1) Locate a power cage.

2) Locate suspension straps.

3) Attach two suspension straps to the rack's top horizontal bar.

4) Set the ends of the straps to thigh height.

5) Stand under the two bands.

6) Grasp the bands' handles.

7) Get into push-up position by leaning forward onto the suspension straps.

8) Keep your body weight on your toes.

9) Raise your torso until your arms are fully extended.

Main Mechanics

Once in starting position, do this...

1) This is the starting position.

2) Inhale as you lower your body downward...

3) ...until your chest is level with the handles.

4) Hold this position for a count of one second.

5) Exhale as you push your body back up to the starting position.
