How to Buy Baseball Pants

Step-by-step Instructions

Here is what you need to do...
Step 1

First you have to decide which style of pants you like to wear. Most baseball players in this era like the long "baggy-er" pants that almost look more like sweat pants. But some still like the "old school" style that you pull up to show your baseball socks. Once you decide which style you would like you can move on to step 2.

Step 2

This step is to guide you in finding the right size of pants you want. Sizes for baseball pants normally come in small, medium, large, and extra large. I always wore a large baseball pants and my waist size was a 32-inch, so use this as a guideline.

Step 3

Remember the waist does not have to fit perfectly since baseball pants include belt loops. If you like the baggy style pants then you need to measure your in seam to decide how long you want your baseball pants to be.

Step 4

The easiest way to do this is to measure the in seam of a pair of jeans or sweat pants that fit you well and find a pair of baseball pants that corresponds to that length. Also, for the baggy style of pants your will want unhemmed pants.

Step 5

If you like the the "old school" style of wearing your pants, you will want the same waist size of pants, but an in seam that is not as long. You would want these pants to come down to just above your ankle, so you can pull them up above your socks. These types of pants you would want to get hemmed, so the legs do not slide down from the pulled up position while you are playing.

Step 6

In this step I will discuss good places to buy baseball pants and what types to get. I would first recommend going to a sporting goods dealer and try on a pair of pants to make sure you know the exact size you want before ordering online.

Step 7

The Wilson Pro T3 baseball pant is a very good quality and durable pant. It comes in hemmed and unhemmed. It can be ordered directly from the Wilson website or from Amazon.com for 27 to 42 dollars. Another great baseball pant is the Nike Oregon Elite baseball pant which can be ordered from the Nike website for $55.

Step 8

Special Attention

Difficulties people often experience or parts that need special attention to do it right.

Some people may have difficulty because they are in between sizes. My suggestion would be to go with the bigger size because it is usually more comfortable to play in and may shrink after being washed and dried multiple times. Also, as with most things you get what you pay for. By spending a little extra money for a more durable polyester pant, you will actually be saving more money in the long run by not having to buy more than one pair of pants per year. I had a pair of Wilson polyester pants that lasted me 4 years!
