Lateral Raise

Lateral Raise

An exercise for the deltoids performed by standing or sitting with the torso erect while holding a dumbbell in each hand. The weights are raised slowly out to the sides until they are at shoulder level and then slowly lowered (rather than allowing them to drop uncontrolled). For the stress to be placed on the medial deltoid rather than the anterior, the palms must face downwards through the movement. Elbows should be kept rigid but slightly bent throughout the movement.
