Balance Board


Differentiation: Mechanics

This variation of a Calf Raise is unique. Here is how: you balance on top of a balance board. Since the balance board is not stable, you must engage your core | as well as your calves to maintain balance. Engaging these muscles increases the overall strength of both muscle groups.


Starting Position

To get into starting position, do this...

1) Locate an area of the gym with ample floor space to perform the exercise.

2) Obtain a BOSU ball.

3) Position the balance board on the floor in front of you.

4) Step onto the balance board, feet shoulder-width apart.

5) Bend your knees and arms for stability.

Once in starting position, do this...

2) Maintain your stance as long as possible on the board without holding onto something.


Proper Form

Pay special attention to following proper form by...

Keep your body vertical as possible without losing balance. Compromising the form of your body too much can result in falling over or injury.
