Photography Light Meters Make Tans Darker

A light meter is a critical photographic tool for photo shoots because they tell a photographer how to adjust his camera settings to accurately record the light hitting the male model's skin.

Different light meter settings can effect whether the male model's skin looks lightly tan or dark. Lighting also effects how the shadowing on his muscles is seen.

Hold Light Meter to the Face

Since light meters measure the light that hits the male model's skin, the meter should be held very close to the male model's face.

Outdoor Shoots Require Multiple Light Readings

It is not unusual for meter readings to be taken every few minutes on cloudy days. If a shoot is held outdoors, sometimes the sun moves behind clouds and comes out again as the shoot progresses. The amount of light that hits the male model can change from minute to minute. In this case, the photo crew must pause so a new light measurement can be taken. This must be done each time the sunlight changes.

Male Models Sometimes Operate Light Meter

Light meter readings are normally taken by a photography assistant. Since most guys who come to Campus Men are new to posing, they tend to be nervous at photo shoots if others are present. Since a photographer can limit the number of crew present at his photo shoots if he wants to make a model comfortable. The photographer can avoid using a photographer's assistant, Because of this missing crew member, a male model may be asked to operate a light meter at a photo shoot.

When the male model takes light meter readings, a photographer can avoid walking back and forth from the camera to the model. This saves time and shortens the length of the photo shoot.
