Photo Crews Get Models Ready At Photo Shoots

By Shawn Petrovich of Totally Ripped of Los Angeles, which specializes in photography and video of fitness models.

A lot of steps are involved in preparing a model before a photographer can begin snapping pictures.

A model may have spent months lifting weights, but there are a number of preparation techniques done on the day of the photo shoot.

First, models add mascara to their eyelashes to make their lashes more visible for the camera.

A hair stylist styles the model's hair.

Then a makeup artist adds translucent powder to the model's face,

And adds Vaseline lip therapy to a model's lips to increase lip color

Sometimes body makeup is added to a model's abs and pecs to increase muscularity.

Baby oil is added in certain spots on muscles - to reflect light which fools the camera into making you look more muscular.

Finally, the model gets his muscles pumped up a few minutes before posing.

Then an assistant stands just outside the view of the camera and sprays a little water on the model's body to add sweat beads.

Finally, after all these steps, the model is ready to be photographed.
