Return to Brazil
Flying to Brazil
My sixth trip was designed to get my mind off of the girlfriend I had recently broken up with. I had been there five times before so trust me when I tell you this, if you need to get away to some place to get your mind off of anything that may be bothering you, Rio de Janeiro is just that place.
After a long 9 1/2 hour flight (It's even a long ass trip sitting up front in First Class with the great meals and individual entertainment options) we arrived Thursday morning. Instead of having our usual Driver Gerald pick us up at the airport, we decided to save some money to take the airport bus to Copacabana. It only costs six Real (two bucks depending on the exchange), which is a lot cheaper than all the taxi's waiting there to kidnap you as soon as you clear customs. Those guys are Rip Off Artists so steer clear of them. If you don't have prearranged transportation plans, take the bus. It makes a few stops and takes about an hour and a half (traffic is seriously jacked up that time of morning so regardless of what you ride in it will take a while)
Once dropped off at Copacabana we went over to "Blame it on Rio" Travel Agency to see our old friend Bobby to rent an apartment. He fixed us up with a nice three bedroom that was a few blocks from The Help Disco so my crew, T.H. and J.D.R., and I settled in and grabbed a nap. We got up later and took care of our normal errands, exchanged money, went to the supermercado for some for some groceries, and grabbed a little lunch. We hung out checking out the babes on Copacabana Beach and made up a game plan. We definitely wanted to hit this Bath House (for descriptions of Bath House activities please see previous Rio blogs) we all had heard so much about called Quartro E Quartro or 4x4. Now I have been to a number of Bath Houses, Louomo, The Monte Carlo, Centaurus, and Rio Atlantica, but I just had to investigate this 4x4 to see what all the hoopla was about. We decided to hit it Friday after lunch and before the night's festivities.
NEXT...We hit the Help Disco
