Sam's campus nickname is "Surfin' Sammy." That's because he's a California beach bum transplanted to the Midwest.
Giving up the beach and swinging nightlife of his native northern California wasn't easy for this Golden Boy. But he admits to falling in love with Ohio State at first sight and is now as much of a football "nut" as every born and bred Buckeye.
Sam's dream of playing college football himself ended with a career-ending injury in high school. But the experience made him appreciate his family even more.
Friends and family say Sam keeps get-togethers lively. There's never a dull moment when he's around.
