How To Get Chosen By Top Modeling Agencies
The most traditional and hardest way to become a male model is to get accepted by a top modeling agency locate in a major city like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, or Miami. This requires you either move permanently to a major city or spend your summer break from college in a big city.
Most new male models think they need someone "who knows someone" who has connections at a big agency to "get them in." This can work too. But in the time it takes to locate a local agency that will take the time to pick up the phone to call an agency, and then slip your photos in the mail, you could contact the agencies yourself. It's much faster. Some local agencies make money off getting you in contact with big agencies. Why not cut out the middleman?
Bypass Schools and Conventions
Modeling Conventions visit towns all the time and promise to allow you to meet a bunch of big time agents who they fly into a local hotel. You could go that route, but they charge big bucks! Why not simply slap some stamp on a few envelopes and get the job done yourself?
You need to show these modeling agencies what you look like. Thousands of people mail snapshots, but the most effective way is to email a link to an online video in which you talk about yourself. For example, Nik from from Georgia Tech, is a featured student on Campus Men and has this video on his promotional page.
Mail, Do Not Email
You simply need to find out the addresses of the agencies and mail a snapshots of yourself along with a link to your video that is published on your Campus Men promotional page. It's that easy. (We do not suggest emailing agencies due to massive problems with spam filters and junk mail. They may never receive your email.)
Steps to take:
Order mailing labels of NYC Model Agencies or The New York Model's Black Book from Model's Mart at male models-mart.com
Make a video and establish a free promotional page on CampusMen.com. In your video, you should mention anything about you that makes you unique from other guys. Just envision your name on a list with 52 other guys trying out for an opportunity. How can you make yourself stick out from that list? A photograph also doesn't show your personality. A video goes a long way toward doing this.
Obtain two good-quality, but non-professional snapshots. Order printed snapshotsof these through Snapfish.com Order enough for each agency you wish to mail to. Write your name and phone number of the back of each photo. (Offices are hectic. Things get misplaced. So, don't risk losing an opportunity by not being thorough.)
Write a personalized note (sample Microsoft Word letter) for each agency that states that you wish to be considered, include your statistics: height, weight, and chest size and include a web address to your online video on CampusMen.com.
Afterward
If the agency is interested in you, they will contact you. They may request more photographs and may specify additional poses they require. They will also ask about your plans for moving to their city. be prepared for an answer. If you are not willing to move to their city, you should not contact them.
Remember that you may have mailed your photo to some small-time agencies on the list. Don't automatically assume any modeling agency that contacts you can help you. Ask other established male models which modeling agencies are best.
