What is a Business Sponsor?

Sponsors are businesses that support Campus Men by giving away free prizes the Campus Men can give away in Fan Challenges. Having sponsors gives a Campus Men special status. Not every student on campus is supported by an area business!

If you want to create a Fan Challenge that awards a prize to a Fan, you get a Sponsor to pledge the prize.

Sponsors pledge to give one prize to one of your Fans. No, you do not get free stuff, But your Fans do.

Approving Sponsors

It is best to find a new business on your campus to join and become your Sponsor. You know what local businesses are popular with students on your campus. Sometimes existing Sponsors will ask to connect with you. Having Sponsors' names appear on your Profile Page is a reflection of you. It is similar to an elite athlete accepting an endorsement. So, do not approve Sponsors who are not real businesses or stuff that sounds funky or makes you look bad.

How Can I Obtain a Sponsor?

To obtain a Sponsor, Campus Men can reach out to area businesses via email or personal contact (walking into the store)...

1) Download and print your Become My Sponsor Letter, then distribute it to area businesses. Encourage the business to register on Fanbase to become your sponsor and pledge a prize. Other people can download your "Be [Firstname]'s Sponsor" Letter and distribute it for you, too.

2) You are anyone can send an external "Become a Sponsor" email message to any business if you know their email address. Just go to your page and click the "Invite a Business to Sponsor" link.

Once you have a Sponsor, remember to also ask your sponsor to add your Widget to their company Website.

What Should I do with my Sponsor Letter?

Scope out the kind of local business that would make a good sponsor. Ask yourself, "What kind of campus establishment would benefit the most from Fanbase exposure?"

Personal contact is important! Don't just drop off your Sponsor letter. Ask to speak to the manager or the person in charge for a few minutes.

If the manager is not available, ask when he or she will be free and plan to return at that time. Be businesslike. They will assume you are selling something and not want to talk to you. They are busy. Be blunt and tell them you want to bring a lot of girls into their location!

It is not uncommon for you to need to return to the store a few times before you catch the manager in person.

Managers are generally busy, so don't make yourself a nuisance. Plan to spend no more than about five minutes explaining Fanbase, how Fan Challenges work and why you need a prize.

Provide the manager with a copy of your Sponsor letter. The sooner you get the business to register, the better. Offer to help him register his business on Fanbase using his computer.

Remember, a Sponsor must be connected to a Campus Man to offer a Prize Pledge. So, your goal is to get the manager to register on your Become My Sponsor Page (the address will appear on your letter). Offer to do whatever is necessary to help him/her get this step done.

Finally: Bars and restaurants will want you to get your Fans to come into their location. You may think this is a good idea in the future, but your first goal is to get the business registered as a Sponsor.

Can My Dad Sponsor Me?

Sometimes your parent will offer to help you. Your dad or mom can only sponsor you if they register their company. Sponsors are businesses, not people.

Prizes Should Be Free

The prize should be inexpensive ($20-$30 in value) and be representative of what the Sponsor sells. Example: A large pizza from a pizza shop, an order of wings from a bar or a gift card from a coffee shop. It's up to the Business to select the prize! Prizes should not be coupons or discounts - such as 10 percent off a pizza. Just delete those!

Tip: A perfect but frequently overlooked prize for a Fan would be a staplegun - so that Fan can use the staplegun to post your Street Team Fliers on campus!

Here is How Prizes Work

A Sponsor can pledge free prizes for Fan Challenges. A creative Fan Challenge can generate a lot of awareness. (One prize to each Fan Challenge).

  • First, a Business must register and connect with the Campus Man as his Sponsor.
  • From the Sponsor's Profile Page, the Sponsor selects individual or multiple Campus Men he is connected to.
  • Sponsor describes a free Prize (Item) he wants to pledge.
  • Sponsor clicks "Issue this Prize Pledge"
  • The system notifies the Campus Man and the Prize Appears in Campus Man's List of Available Prizes. Campus Men can use these prizes during the  "Create a Fan Challenge" Process.

After the Campus Man chooses which Fan receives the prize (After the Fan Challenge ends), the system updates the Sponsor's list of pledged prizes to show the name and email address of the Fan who won the prize. Then it is up to the winning Fan to collect the prize from the business.

If you have already Accepted as a Campus Man, don't forget you are provided Invite Codes you can give to your closest buddies, roommates or lifting partners - so they can Qualify too.
