Calendar Stunt on Oval

News Transcript
(This is an unedited, uncorrected transcript):

Reporter: Now that we have your attention, the infamous Scarlet & Gray calendar is back. Last year, the students who put out the OSU beefcake boys in print ran afoul of the university's trade-mark protection office. So, what are they going to do for an encour, its called "Campus Briefs."

Barb Kuznik: The first thing that came to mind was, oh, not another cheesy swimsuit calendar.

Reporter: No, not one, but two. One for the boys, and one for the girls. And not swimsuits, but underwear.

Malcolm MacLaren: Its not too bad, I guess it's not as bad until you have the actual public come up to you and say hey, you know, I saw you in this and you're in your underwear and stuff like that. And I guess you cannot really judge that until it happens.

Reporter: It was happening today on the Oval, where calendar promoters staged a test photo session. They're hoping to make this year's calendars more artistic in the style of those high-fashion underwear ads that are in just about every magazine you pick up.

Sean Ashbrook: Well, we are going all out with the artistic line of the calendar. Last year it was just pin-ups. But this year we are going towards art.

Reporter: Today they mastered the art of attracting attention as a big crowd of students gathered to watch a flesh, fog and a flashy car. Are they worried though about getting in trouble with campus bosses?

Sean Ashbrook: Understandably OSU doesn't like the calendar, but we have no problem with that and we think we can exist and they can exist at the same time.

Reporter: If you think you would like the calendar, they will be in the stores Sept. 18 and cost $8.95.
