Campus Men Calendar Features Cleveland Students

Pre-Med Majors Just Raising Money For School

News Transcript
(This is an unedited, uncorrected transcript):

CLEVELAND, Updated 7:16 a.m. EST February 3, 2000 -- "The Campus Men® of 2000" calendar features local college students, appearing in little more than their skivvies.

Brian Santin's mother can't believe that her son is Mr. March. At first, she was nervous.

"I was leery," Ann-Marie Santin tells WEWS. "You hear about all these stories of what happens 20 years from now when they bring the pictures back to haunt you."

The pre-med major's father supports his son's inclusion in the calendar.

"He looked at this as something, when he got older, he could show his grandkids and his kids: 'This is Grandpa, this is something really wild that he did, yet, not that wild,'" Don Santin says.

Santin is using his modeling money to pay for his campaign for student body vice president.

Vince Meno's family is also dealing with their son's picture in the calendar. His mother was not ecstatic about the calendar.

"As his parents, we don't really care for it, but our other children think that it's an adventure," Josie Meno says.

The Meno family is from Guam and Vince's father is a military veteran. Dad shook his head at the calendar. Meno is also a pre-med major at The Ohio State University. The modeling job will help pay his tuition.

"When I saw the picture, I said 'That's not my baby," Josie Meno says. "Then he goes, 'But Mom, I'm a grown guy, I'm not a little kid anymore -- stop treating me like a baby.'"
